Patty Browning
Patty Browning has been painting for most of her adult life. She began painting with oils, but became infatuated with watercolors some 25 years ago and is still having fun with this medium.
The wonders of nature with all its complexities provide a never ending source for inspiration. She selects subjects or designs that appeal to her artistic forces and expressions. Workshops with excellent national and local artists have contributed greatly to her art education as well as her creative commitment and productivity level. Although traditional paper surfaces will always be a standard for her work, she also paints on Yupo, a synthetic plastic based surface. Because the pigment sits on the paper rather than being absorbed, the colors remain more vibrant and the "sliding" properties create interesting and unpredictable color and texture variations which appeal to her sense of adventure.
She has lived in Hawaii, California and Texas and her spiritual connection to these locales frequently influence her painting choices. She was born and raised in Hawaii which explains an ongoing tropical theme sparked by visions from the past and present. She returns occasionally to re-experience the islands.
Patty's paintings are included in collections across the nation and her work is displayed in the Houston and surrounding areas.
